Routing
Routing refers to the process of defining and managing the sequence of production steps required to manufacture a product. It includes creating and managing BOM Outlines, Process Steps, and BOM Specifications, which collectively determine how a product is produced.
Purpose of Routing
- Establishes a structured workflow for production.
- Ensures proper sequencing and resource allocation.
- Helps in cost estimation and production planning.
Key Aspects of Routing
- BOM Outline – A template that defines the steps for production, specifying materials, unit, quantity, and costs.
- Process Steps – Individual production steps within a BOM Outline, detailing inputs, outputs, manpower, and sequence.
- BOM Specification – A finalized version of the BOM Outline used for production orders.
- Pre-Costing – Estimating the cost of production based on the BOM Outline and Specification.
Routing is the framework that guides the production process by defining steps, materials, and costs to ensure efficient manufacturing.
